Subject: [multimachine] A bike powered MM idea

A picture is in a new folder "1 Bike powered MM".
The machine would have only 2 speeds (slow and very slow) that are selected by moving a chain from 1 set of sprockets to another.
The brake drum flywheel would be mounted on a shortened axle shaft that would run on a ball bearing in the cylinder bore and be supported near the flywheel by a cast ZA-27 bushing mounted on a plate on the oil pan surface.
The "flywheel" (that could be filled with concrete) would mount:
The "high" speed sprocket,
A brake band,
A pulley or sprocket that would connect to a 10 speed bike hub.
I'm going to write to Tony @ lathes.co.uk and try to find out slow "triple" geared, pedal powered lathes turned when they made heavy cuts. (see Brittania mod. 18)
The whole setup could be made from junk and ZA-27 castings.
