Dub Colossus is a very special project that brings together 5 Ethiopian musicians
and 7 London-based artists including Dr Das on bass (ex-Asian Dub Foundation),
Nick Van Gelder on drums (ex-Jamiroquai) and The Horns of Negus (Dr John)
'In A Town Called Addis’ explores traditional Ethiopian music,
60s Ethiopian pop, Ethiojazz and 70s Jamaican Dub Reggae. British producer Dubulah
(aka Transglobal Underground founding member Nick Page),
collaborated with some fantastic Ethiopian musicians in Addis Ababa and the result is
exuberant and extraordinary, sounding simultaneously familiar yet fresh.
+ DJ support Jamie Renton (Chilli Fried) & Duke Etienne & Cal Jader (Heads High)
The night opens with a set of traditional Ethiopian Azmari song.
"as if Lee Scratch Perry were producing Ethiopiques" FT
