      To: Dear Perspective PArticipants,

We are very happy that you are interested in our conference, and we do
not by any means think that Russian students would be richer than
students from any other Eastern Block countries.

On our homepage, under Financial Support, there are two types of
possible support are listed. The first type of support is intended to
be financed from a project the proposal for which we are going to
submit within the next couple of days to the Austrian Science Liaison
Office, together with our Austrian co-organizers. (The ASO supports
trips of scientists from the contries listed on the homepage to come to
Hungary for events organized together with an Austrian partner.) The
reason that this type of support is not available for Russian
applicants is that the Austrian Liaison Office only supports people
from a selected list of countries.
There is a second type of support available as well, which is offered
by the Reserach Isntitute of Linguistics, which, given our limited
resources, is more limited in coverage, and will probably only
partially contribute to the trips of participants from other countries.
Naturally, the amount depends on the number of applicants. We believe
at this point that only applicants with absracts will be supported that
are accepted by our Program Committee into the program of the
conference. The deadline for applications for this second type of grant
is the same as the deadline for submitting abstracts, January 31.

Wishing you best of luck with applying, and hoping to see you at the
      conference,

      Bea Gyuris
