Don, in what sense are those of us who live west of Montlake Blvd. "less on board?"

      Jonathan:
I got 110 flyers out yesterday morning.  That covered everyone with  Lake Wash. Blvd., North St., and W. Montlake Place addresses, the Hip-Hop Grocery, and Hamlin west of Montlake Blvd. (where they seem to be less on board) including fisheries and the Yacht Club.

Once I actually read the flyer, I realized that should have done more, to get Royal Court and the 2500 blocks of Roanoke through Lynn, but I had to move on to other things.

      see you tonight.
      Don

This is a reminder that the Montlake Community Club Transportation Committee will be convening tonight, Wednesday November 28, at 7:30pm, at the west modular building at the Montlake Community Center. This is the same meeting announced in the flyer, and at the most recent general meeting of the community club, and on montlake.net. My apologies if anyone who's interested didn't hear about it until now. I'll submit minutes after the meeting so anyone who missed it can hear what transpired.

      Agenda:

The Trans-Lake Washington Project will dominate this meeting. That is because some new results will be announced in the hours before the meeting. Before launching into that, let us remember that this group is following a number of other important issues as well, which we will touch on before diving in to TLWP.

      * Brief follow-up on Sound Transit North Link scoping
      * Brief follow-up on University Area Transportation Study
      * Brief follow-up on arterial traffic speed issue
      * Trans-Lake Washington Project - discussion of latest diagrams and latest project results

Since some of these issues have been volatile for Montlake in years past, I think it's important to set the context here:

The purpose of this informal group, which convenes monthly, is for all the people in the community who are interested in these issues to get to know one another, and to establish a healthy, ongoing dialogue on a number of transportation issues. We will share some of the details we learn that would take far too long to discuss in a general community meeting. My role as chair is that of an organizer and facilitator, though, like all of us, I am not without my own informed take on the situation. As all this takes place within the context of the Montlake community club, we will respect community club resolutions and motions.

The group will not be acting formally, with resolutions and the like. Any such formalities are the domain of the community club as a whole and governed by its bylaws. This group be not take a formal position outside the community club, i.e. "The Montlake Community Club Transportation Committee recommends such-and-such." We will not be slowed down by the need to measure consensus, i.e., vote on issues; whatever consensus emerges will make itself known to the rest of the world, empowered with what we learn at these meetings. This is a way to bring the community together outside the context of a meeting run by transportation officials, for all to share some new information we are learning, and for those of us who feel compelled to take action, to do so. It is my hope that those who follow these issues closely will choose these meetings to focus on many points of agreement, and get mobilized.

      All Montlakers are welcome!

      Hope to see you there,

      Jonathan
