Rally for educational access, including the MN Dream, on Sunday
WHAT: Minnesota's Voice: Minnesota Rallies for
Educational Access, Equal Opportunity, & Justice!
WHEN: Sunday, June 5, 2005 beginning at 1:30pm
WHERE: The Minnesota State Capitol Building, St. Paul,
THE OBJECTIVE: Thousands of Minnesotans unite in ONE
The Dream Act is a law that will allow undocumented
youth who live in MN and graduate from MN high
schools, to attend MN colleges and universities for
in-state tuition. Otherwise, these students have to
pay three-times that amount, which is too often not
affordable for their families.
The General College at the U of MN is an access point
for many first-generation, low-income, disabled,
students of color, and rural Minnesotan youth who have
a right to an education, even at a research
institution like the U. The college’s job is to
prepare these students to become academically
competent and transfer to another degree granting
college at the U within two years.
