Group Description

This Yahoo! group serves as a means of communication between students active in SCORP, the Standing Committee on human Rights and Peace, a subcommittee of MMSA.

SCORP was set up in 1999. In 2006, the group began dealing with more varied issues other than refugees, and in 2007 it widened its horizons further, such that now the focus is on helping medical students enhance their education with respect to medical ethics and community issues.

In our future professional career, we must always remember that our patients, above all things, are PEOPLE. The most fundamental ideal of SCORP is respect; if we can all learn how to respect one another as equal human beings the world would be a much better place. Medical care is a human right, and for this right to be respected properly, we must first learn to respect each other.

I hope that you will help us achieve our goals!
