The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), Liberia
Program is seeking interns both from within the Africa region and other
parts of the world to assist in the implementation of its Program
activities. The period of the internship will be a minimum of six
Under the direction of in-country consultants, the intern will provide
support to the ICTJ Liberia Program by assisting the in-country
Consultants and other ICTJ staff and consultants that may periodically
be in Liberia. The intern will be involved in substantive work related
to the Liberia Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) process,
security sector reform (SSR) and other transitional justice issues in
Liberia. A portion of their time will also be required in performing
operational tasks and providing administrative support.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drafting substantive policy and technical papers on particular
issues affecting the transitional justice in Liberia. Such issues will
include the Liberian truth and reconciliation process, security sector
reform, prosecutions for past crimes, reparations and memorialization.
Assisting the ICTJ in-country Consultants in the development
and implementation of program activities such as research, surveys,
trainings, liaising with civil society and other agencies working on
transitional justice issues.
Providing operational support by helping to organize meetings,
workshops, seminars and conferences, and other training events,
representing ICTJ in meetings and other events

preferably one that is post-conflict
4. The intern should be willing to arrange and pay for travel and
accommodation in Liberia. ICTJ however hopes to provide a stipend to
cover living expenses for six months and airfare, pending grant
confirmation. If the applicant has access to financial support, they
should indicate so in their application.
