From Barbara B in South Africa and a forwarded message
- Greetings everybody, I have been a member for a while but not had a reason to post until now. I make miniature books primarily for the dollshouse fraternity. They are all one twelfth scale but are made as "Open Books". I realise that this would horrify the purists among you, but never-the-less the books are all properly sewn and bound and all have leather covers (the leather so fine you can see through it if you hold it up to the light). Whilst I am here, I invite you to have a look at my web site, (which I enjoyed building myself). The stamp album may be of interest to some of you as is is not an "Open Book". http://www.bbminiatures.homestead.com
I would welcome your comments in my guestbook!
However, this is not the primary reason for my post. I received the following e mail and promised George that I would post it to this forum as I know some of you may be interested. Thanks for your time, Best wishes, Barbara B from South Africa
I'm George Varnyu from the town Ada, in province of Vojvodina. It is in the former Yugoslavia now Serbia & Montenegro. The town is near the Hungarian border.
By profession I'm printer and bookbinder, and works together with my wife Valerie.
Through many years we are printed and bound a lot of miniature books, and after we are build our miniature book collection. Now we will decide to sell the collection. Some volumes are sold, but still we have more than a thousand volumes in collection mostly from Hungary and the artist Mr. Andrusko who is specialised in wood engravings. Many volumes of him are printed from the original wood-blocks in letterset.
I found your web site of the miniature books on the internet, it seems that you are interested in the field of miniature books.
Beside the books which are described and offered for sale in our catalogue, we have more duplicates of some volumes.
The Catalogue we can send you in PDF-file as an attachment to the e-mail, of course if you are interested in.
Thank you in advance for your eventually interest.
