Around 5,000 exquisite pieces of china and glass, none of them more than
a few centimetres high, are to be offered at Christie's South Kensington when
the Winterstein Collection of miniature books, glass, porcelain, and ceramics
is sold in two sales in spring, 2000. Many of the delightful coffee and tea
services came from the best Continental factories, among them Limoges. A
selection of items from the porcelain collection has estimates of 200 to
500 ($320 to $800). They include an Imari fluted teapot and cover, circa
1700, a bronze figure of a lion, circa mid-l7th century and a blue and white
      kendi, circa mid-17th century.

An auction of dolls is scheduled for 24 February 2000 and I'm not sure if
that is dolls only or if the above collection is scheduled at the same time.
This is the only date given other than the March 10th date below for the
miniature book auction. Clarification can be obtained through the contacts
      listed below.

The book auction is scheduled for Christie's South Kensington, London,
March 10, 2000. Unfortunately, no explicit details have been released on
      this yet.

The contact is: Olivia Bristol on 0044 (20) 7321 3401 or you may e-mail
      to: obristol@...

How wonderful that this collection will be available to collectors rather
than being stored away in the vault of a library or museum where they would
otherwise have been rarely seen or seen only by those with special
      authorization.
