- The digital read out on my igaging DRO on the Z axis wont work right. It seems to work ok for a while, then it starts changing the readings for no reason. It jumps .100 to .200 and then starts counting up by inches. It has gone up to 23 inches and more.I have replaced the batteries, and it still does it.Is this some stupid setting I have set it to do, or is it just trash and needing replaced? For the record, this is NOT one of the readouts I bought from David on this group. Both of those are working fine. This was bought a few years ago someplace else.ThanksLarry in WV,

- Hello Stuart,Simply put, Precision Gauge Blocks. They usually come in a set and are precision ground and guaranteed flat and parallel within .0005" of an inch. For O. D. Micrometers these are usually close enough. In comparison, the average thickness of a human hair is .003" of an inch. If you are working closer than that, I suggest a digital comparator.Chief Bob,Retired and Happy
