      It looked like old caked grease residue was in the chuck when I used brake cleaner and lacquer thinner on the parts, and I didn't know if I had to worry about grease catching chips. The easiest way I've found to do research is to just ask here and get to the point.

      I acquired an old 5" Union 3-jaw chuck, and after disassembling it and soaking it in Evaporust, mainly to clean it up real nice, no rust of any kind, I now need to put it back together.

       

      Any recommendations on whether to oil the scroll, or lightly use some kind of grease on it?
