  • >It's a repackaged PDP-11/03 with some third-party peripherals. Cool! The previous owner mentioned a number of PDP 11 models... Had no idea. >Chromatix made, among other things, HPLC systems and >spectrophotometers...I'd guess this is a controller for some sort of >life sciences/chem lab equipment. It'd be from the mid- to late-1970s. > >The CPU board itself has 8KB of onboard...

  • Well, I'll be. what's in the picture is pretty much what it looks like. I've got the dual drive (but in black) the console (missing what looks like the silver logo on the left) But the black base underneath looks what I have (and where the boards are located...) It's a "weird" version of an early "all in one" kbd, system, drives. :-) Earl

  • Well, what I got is DEFINITELY not what was in the brochure! I've posted a chunk of pictures (and after opening up everything last night, I have NO idea what exactly it is... there are definitely some DEC parts in there but I'm not sure what exactly the config is... Here's a link to the Flickr Album from what I labeled the "PDP" https://flic.kr/s/aHskga1hDQ Anyone want to help me...

  • The 11/44 that I had donated to MARCH was a particle analyzer system, lots of multiplexers and A/D going on. Very common set up for a DEC system. Did you download the brochure from my web site / earlier post - is yours like that? or how about my industrial 11? No, I didn't download the brochure. Can you re-send the link? I took a boat load of pictures last night from some of the...

  • Folks (cross posted to AHCS and MARCH) With the help of my local rescue buddy (Jeff) we had a pretty busy week rescuing a big chunk of things from basements. (and saw a lots of other interesting things... a 90% assembled Rutan EZ in one basement and a very cool, oscilloscope that would probably have have had a lot of folks drooling...a KS-15512-L5 made for Western Electric by...

  • How would one identify one? I just picked up a PDP-11 (according to the person I got it from) that was used for particle measurement. Still has the A/D board and sensors on it... no blinky-lights... it's mounted in what I'd call the "stand" for both the floppies and teletype... Earl

  • It's only one powerbook :-) I've got 3 boxes of powerbooks in the basement... I will note that down south here (Atlanta), we don't see machines like this still being surplused.... esp. from schools... I've been continually amazed how much stuff has been made available (over time of course) to the public from the northern school systems. Down here it all goes to "surplus companies...

  • Well that's a thought :-) I hadn't considered that (which I probably should have) since when I was google searching on how folks had done it the only things I found were related to using TME. I'd still like to get TME working on the Mac (at least before I start working on the Sun 2/120) but what you suggest is something definitely to try... Thanks! (I'll post results... good or bad :-) ) Earl

  • I'm trying to netboot a Sun 3 to be able to get an OS installed on a SCSI2SD card attached to the Sun 3. It's obviously a bit of a chicken and an egg problem, but the suggestions I've found suggest the most straightforward way might be to run TME as a Sun 2 and netboot the Sun 3 from that. (once I get this working, the same process will be what I do for the Sun 2/120 I'm getting...
