      Yes, you can record to a computer via a sound card. I have digitized
      apple II tapes using a Mac soundport.
      After that I have successfully read the files with a Mac based Apple
      II emulator called Virtual II. The reverse process
      also works. However this method is much more touchy than using an
      old fashioned tape recorder.

      I was surprised that I could make it work.

      The cable is a pair of simple mono patch cables with 3.5mm plug at
      all the ends.
