Tandy Compatible 1000 series stuff the SX and HX.
- For you Tandy folks...
I have had this Tandy 1000 SX lying about for quite some time ...This system
had been a display unit for a local Hallmark store. It was a greeting card
generation station of some sort. (Peanuts and Garfield, etc.). The problem was
that the drive was write protected. I could upload new files but I could not
erase any of the files and I could not format the drive. Even after a low
level format I could not erase the the files. Three days of Spinrite low-level
formats and some Norton Disk Doctor version 6 for 360 diskettes allowed me to
finally flush whatever it was that was preventing the drive from acting
normally. Sheesh! I hope none of you are disapointed that I flushed the Hallmark
program. I formatted the drive with DOS 3.30a.
Today I got a Tandy 1000 HX. These have a 720 drive and a built-in ROM DOS
2.11. Works with no problems. 256K RAM. For games it runs Leisure Suit Larry
in better color than an IBM XT.
For the record I have a Tandy COCO 1 and 2, but nothing to report that's new.
They work. I have had them for a while.
