When I try using the 6.0.8 System Install Disk and run the Apple SC setup, it says it can't detect any drives. I tried the oldest other SCSI drive I have that had the 50 Pin connector, a 4.3GB HP drive. But apparently it's a Fast SCSI-2 drive, and not backwards compatable to SCSI-1.
> Oh, wait, stop the presses.. I just completely forgot that I remembered something. I just picked up tonight an old Mac Quadra 650 (with one of those 88MB removable drives but no discs for that, so if anyone needs it) I believe the lady I got it from had removed the RAM for another Mac she had, but left the hard drive in there.. I may have salvation yet for the SE.
> I was going to ask if anyone had a spare SCSI-1 drive, but I think I have one in that other machine. But I guess I would still need 4 1MB 30=pin apple compatable SIMMS to be able to run a newer system (7.5.5 is what I was looking to run)
> I know it's not a super high-tech (err low-tech) project to get the Mac back up and running fully, but I know I could use the help of someone who has more experience with the innards of the older macs. As well as having software to put on the machine once it is functional.
> Oh, I also got about 12-13 Mac software packages, as well as an Atari 800 from my little excursion tonight. I will probably play with that later.
