Arbel is an acronym ALEPH-REYSH-BET-LAMED standing for "Ahaveh Rina
Bou LaShir", or "Lovers of Song/Joy come to Sing". It is an
independent choir not affiliated with any synagogue, but welcomed by
many. They sing songs in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, and
others, a cappella and with various instrumental accompaniments.
The repertoire ranges from the schmaltzy to the sublime - Yiddish
theater, heart-tugging Israeli folk, beautiful short classical
works. The Arbel Chorale is directed by talented and spunky Mr.
Arbel performs several times per year at PA, DE, & NJ senior
centers, sisterhood meetings, Israeli Folk festival, and several
other venues - even the mall for Chanukah! There is a grand spring
concert for friends and family, and a winter Shabbaton retreat.
Rehearsals are most Sunday nights at 7pm, Penn Hillel.
Please come and test the waters if you are interested.
