      Dear Sir/Madam,

The Environment and Climate Change Division of the African Development Bank is looking for an individual consultant, specialist in mini-hydroelectricity, to start the preparation of a project in Liberia. We would appreciate if you could confirm your interest/availability for such consultancy by cob Monday May 6, 2013. Please send your updated CV with your expression of interest.

TORs will be sent to the experts short-listed.

      Brief Description of the assignment:

In preparing the SREP Liberia investment plan, few investment projects will be identified by the Government of Liberia, with the support of MDBs (WB and AFDB) and stakeholders in the sector. One of these projects is a rural electrification program based on mini/micro hydropower projects (each hydropower plant should generate less than 10MW). To better circumscribe the hydro projects and anticipate their preparation, the African Development Bank intends to conduct studies to identify most economically viable sites and undertake pre-feasibility studies on the selected sites. More specifically, the expert will be expected to (i) identify mini/micro hydro power plants sites, (ii) propose the most economically viable sites based on the load centers; and iii) prepare terms of reference for detailed design and bidding studies relating to hydroelectricity production and transportation methods.

Department making the request: Energy, Environment and Climate Change

Place of assignment: Mostly in Freetown, Liberia, with field trips in rural areas

      Period of assignment: 40 days

Expected start date of the assignment: Mid/End May 2013

Last date for expressing interest: 6 May 2013

Expression of interest to be submitted to:
