Group Description

About some Indigenous peoples and their relations of Moliantegw

Moliantegw is the word in the language of the Indigenous Abenaki peoples for the St Lawrence River.

Some of these families migrated west to the St Paul des Metis, Cold Lake, Wolf Lake Metis communities now Bonnyville and La Corey AB from the late 1800s to the 1920s from N'dakina "Our Land, Chez Nous" Abenaki territory on the south shore of Moliantegw.

This is a Decolonisation Project!

Please note, most everything on this group is not written from a colonial settler viewpoint, it is written from an Indigenous peoples viewpoint. This means that where possible the Original names are used and reference is made to traditions and practices of the Original people of Great Turtle Island (North America).
