The Earth has been inside of a high-speed solar wind stream coming
from a coronal hole for the last few days. While there were some
active geomagnetic conditions at the onset of the event, and thhe
solar wind speed peaked at over 600 km/sec, the activity level has
diminished, as has the solar wind speed. There is a very small
remnant of sunspot region 798/808 visible now. As regular readers
will remember, this sunspot region fired off some massive flares
during its two previous passes, one being an X-17 event. No chance of
that happening now though, as what remains is barely visible. Loook
for conditions to remain quiet for the next several days.

The current solar and geomagnetic conditions are :

      NOAA sunspot number : 25
      SFI : 78
      A index : 5
      K index : 2

      Solar wind speed : 443.0 km/sec
      Solar wind density : 2.1 protons/cc
Solar wind pressure : 0.7 nPa

      IMF : 3.2 nT
IMF Orientation : 1.0 nT South

      GOES-12 Background X-ray Flux level : A4

Conditions for the last 24 hours :
No space weather storms were observed for the past 24 hours.

Forecast for the next 24 hours
No space weather storms are expected for the next 24 hours.

      Solar activity forecast :
Solar activity is expected to be very low to low. There is a small
chance for a C-class flare in newly numbered Region 814.

      Geomagnetic activity forecast :
The geomagnetic field is expected to continue at quiet to unsettled
      levels.

Recent significant solar flare activity :
      None
