All is quiet tonight as the recent wave of weak CME impacts has
finished. There are no coronal holes visible that would send high
speed solar wind gusts our way. There is one small coronal hole in
view, but it is located too far north on the solar disk to affect us.
There are two numbered sunspot regions visible. One of them,
region 591, while small as far as sunspots go, exhibits a magnetic
structure that indicates it has the potential for producing an M-class
flare. In fact, region 591 fired off an M-class event midday on the
15th. It was a short duration event, and therefore would be less
likely to produce anything in the way of a CME. Stay tuned, however,
as SOHO satellite images becomes available.

The current solar and geomagnetic conditions are :

      NOAA sunspot number : 60
      SFI : 97
      A index : 6
      K index : 2

      Solar wind speed : 428.3 km/sec
      Solar wind density : 4.9 protons/cc
Solar wind pressure : 1.7 nPa

      IMF : 7.3 nT
IMF Orientation : 3.7 nT South

Conditions for the last 24 hours :
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been minor. Radio blackouts
      reaching the R1 level occurred.

Forecast for the next 24 hours :
No space weather storms are expected for the next 24 hours.

      Solar activity forecast :
Solar activity is expected to be at low levels. Region 591 has the
potential of producing isolated low level M-class flares.

      Geomagnetic activity forecast :
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels
      throughout the period.

Recent significant solar flare activity :
      15-Apr-2004 1644Z M1.2
