The overall activity level is slacking off for the time being as the
Earth exist a coronal hole high speed solar wind stream. Things were
definitely active over the weekend with the arrival of several small
CME shock wave passages, and G-1 geomagnetic storms occurred on and
off throughout the period. There is quite an array of sunspots
visible tonight, and the sunspot number is higher than it's been in
awhile. Sunspot region 338, a source of much of the recent flare and
CME activity, has just about rotated over the western limb of the
solar disk. However, sunspot region 344 looks like it might have some
flare-generating potential. Barring a major flare event, which does
have at least an small chance of happening, the current quiet period
should last for the next 48 hours or so. After that, look for the
solar wind speed to pick back up again as another small coronal hole
begin to make its presence felt.

The current solar and geomagnetic conditions are :

      NOAA sunspot number : 175
      SFI : 152
      A index : 16
      K index : 2

      Solar wind speed : 369.5 km/sec
      Solar wind density : 0.4 protons/cc
Solar wind pressure : 0.1 nPa

      IMF : 10.1 nT
IMF Orientation : 0.1 nT North

Conditions for the last 24 hours :
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been minor. Geomagnetic storms
      reaching the G1 level occurred.

Forecast for the next 24 hours :
No space weather storms are expected for the next 24 hours.

      Solar activity forecast :
Solar activity is expected to be at low to moderate levels.

      Geomagnetic acctivity forecast :
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at predominantly unsettled to
active for days one and two of the period as the current coronal hole
begins to wane. Minor storm conditions may occur on day three due to
the onset of another favorably positioned recurrent coronal hole.

Recent significant solar flare activity :
      27-Apr-2003 1532Z M1.7
      26-Apr-2003 2340Z M2.5
      26-Apr-2003 0807Z M7.0
      26-Apr-2003 0306Z M2.1
      26-Apr-2003 0058Z M2.1

Slightly off topic comment--because this song is buzzing in my ears after
watching Shallow Hal--but the mother nature on the run is dead on:

        After The Gold Rush

        by Neil Young

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming

        Sayin' something about a queen

There were peasants singin' and drummers drumming

And the archer split the tree

There was a fanfare blowin to the sun

        That floated on the breeze

Look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies

Look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies

I was lyin' in a burned out basement

With a full moon in my eyes

I was hopin' for a replacement

When the sun burst through the skies

There was a band playin' in my head

And I felt like getting high

Thinkin' about what a friend had said,

I was hopin' it was a lie

Thinkin' about what a friend had said,

I was hopin' it was a lie

Well, I dreamed a saw the silver spaceships flying

In the yellow have of the sun

The were children crying and colors flying

        All around the chosen ones

All in a dream, all in a dream

        The loading had begun

        Flyin' mother nature's silver seed

To a new home in the sun

        Flyin' mother nature's silver seed

        To a new home
