      Yes, that certainly seems
to be true. Maybe we are
      destined to forget until
      we 'learn the lesson' and
evolve to a new level of
      consciousness in which we
      now treasure those things
      we did not appreciate in
      the past.

        Have you ever experienced
a time when you heard or
        read something that struck
        you like a thunderbolt of
        new understanding - and it
        upgraded your perspective
about an aspect of life (or
life in general) to a whole
        new level of clarity?

        Like panning for gold, these
        nuggets flow within our
        consciousness, just beneath
        the surface, and they catch
our eye at the most propitious
        times in life.

        When we are searching for
        an answer or seeking some
        ineffable intuitive understanding
        about a burning 'question',
        we are particularly attentive
        and meditative at times.

        In these times, the sparkle
of the nugget will catch our
eye and we will then own a
        new understanding.

        The reports of the benefits
        of meditation include those
nuggets of a new calm, an
        improved efficiency and
        productivity at work, a new
        tolerance for and patience
        with other people who formerly
        caused us distress, control of
        a destructive habit, and even
        a new graceful and creative
        worry-free approach to
        everything from cooking to
        dancing to our favorite sport.

        The mother lode of meditation
        is full awakening and enlightenment
in which a startling rush of new
        'wisdom' comes into consciousness,
and now the teaching of all the
        masters and contemporary teachers
        of present-day enlightenment now
        resonate and sparkle with profound
        new truth.

        Welcome to The Mystic Path.

        One Love,

Hi Aideen, Sometimes they (the nuggets) seem to have made a strong enough impact to effect a lasting change, but as Sean pointed out, we sometimes forget them.

          Hi Aideen,

          Sometimes they (the nuggets) seem
to have made a strong enough impact
to effect a lasting change, but
as Sean pointed out, we sometimes
forget them. For example, a drinking
binge followed by a massive hangover
may cause the drinker to swear off
          alcohol...but then, as Jimmy Buffet
sings, "If I don't die by Thursday,
          I'll be roaring Fiday night."

You may, of course, consider the
hangover a dark night of the soul,
and in that case your premise
          holds up.

          Love,

          Jeff
