      Dynamic Meditation
      Recommended to be done in the morning, this hour-long method is a powerful way to kick-start your day. It provides an outlet for tension and withheld emotions as well as being a great energy-booster!

      Dynamic Meditation

      Dynamic Meditation lasts one hour and is in five stages. It can be done alone, and will be even more powerful if it is done with others. It is an individual experience so you should remain oblivious of others around you and keep your eyes closed throughout, preferably using a blindfold. It is best to have an empty stomach and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

      “This is a meditation in which you have to be continuously alert, conscious, aware, whatsoever you do. Remain a witness. Don’t get lost. While you are breathing you can forget. You can become one with the breathing so much that you can forget the witness. But then you miss the point.

      “Breathe as fast as possible, as deep as possible; bring your total energy to it but still remain a witness. Observe what is happening as if you are just a spectator, as if the whole thing is happening to somebody else, as if the whole thing is happening in the body and the consciousness is just centered and looking.

      “This witnessing has to be carried in all the three steps. And when everything stops, and in the fourth step you have become completely inactive, frozen, then this alertness will come to its peak.”

      First Stage: 10 minutes

      Breathe chaotically through the nose, concentrating always on exhalation. The body will take care of the inhalation. The breath should move deeply into the lungs. Be as fast as you can in your breathing, making sure the breathing stays deep. Do this as fast and as hard as you possibly can – and then a little harder, until you literally become the breathing. Use your natural body movements to help you to build up your energy. Feel it building up, but don’t let go during the first stage.

      Second Stage: 10 minutes

      Explode! Express everything that needs to be thrown out. Go totally mad. Scream, shout, cry, jump, shake, dance, sing, laugh; throw yourself around. Hold nothing back; keep your whole body moving. A little acting often helps to get you started.. Never allow your mind to interfere with what is happening. Be total, be whole heart ed.

      Third Stage: 10 minutes

      With raised arms, jump up and down shouting the mantra, “Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!” as deeply as possible. Each time you land, on the flats of your feet, let the sound hammer deep into the mid center. Give all you have; exhaust yourself totally.

      Fourth Stage: 15 minutes

      Stop! Freeze wherever you are, in whatever position you find yourself. Don’t arrange the body in any way. A cough, a movement – anything will dissipate the energy flow and the effort will be lost. Be a witness to everything that is happening to you.

      Fifth Stage: 15 minutes

      Celebrate through dance, expressing your gratitude towards the whole. Carry your happiness with you throughout the day.

      If where you meditate prevents you from making a noise, you can do this silent alternative: Rather than throwing out the sounds, let the catharsis in the second stage take place entirely through bodily movements. In the third stage, the sound “Hoo” can be hammered silently inside.

      Basic theory of higher body development, as
      extrapolated from teachers like Gurdjieff,
      DeChardin, Molari, Swami Sivananda, and many others.

      Think of your spiritual body as a bag that
      is empty and everything in this
      universe as just collections of holy atoms.
      The more you do good and are good, the more
      of this sacred material you collect and the
      stronger and more full of spirituality your
      higher/astral/ etc body becomes. What is "good"?
      That which brings peace. And "bad" is that
      which takes peace away. When you act selflessly,
      you virtually always bring about peace in some
      form or other and you gain more of the divine
      energy. And when you are selfish, the more you
      tend to lose this food of the gods. And as you
      fill with these holy atoms, the lighter you
      get and the more and more the heaviness leaves
      you and you can ascend to higher and higher
      realms. The astral body (or whatever you like
      to call it) then can soar and transcend the
      limits that a flesh and bones body has imposed
      on it by nature. And eventually when you are
      so full of "IT", like a balloon that has
      overfilled, you burst, and not even an astral
      body can or does contain your essence, and you
      merge fully with an even higher body that has
      less limitations than the astral body had. And
      this process goes on ever after, higher body
      after higher body, until "you" are all the holy
      energy there is…and for us, this is beyond
      words, description, visualization, thought,
      etc. But IT IS!

      It has been said that the average person only
      develops her/himself up to the soles of their
      feet. And those who have developed and "filled"
      their higher bodies are just as remote in being
      understood by the average person as a human is
      to an ant.

      It has been warned that although there is probably
      no better way to increase your quantity of this
      most top quality energy than by meditation, just
      one outburst of anger can take away 100 hours of
      good that meditating brought. So, perhaps
      self-control to a degree of non-reactivity
      relative to whatever occurs to you physically,
      emotionally, or mentally can be the best skill
      that can be developed toward becoming a full
      (of holy energy – and thus more God-like) person.
      And so it is no surprise that we find awareness
      with discrimination and dispassion as the first
      steps in gaining a foothold on spiritual evolution.

      How to do this? has been answered by Swami
      Sivananda in his simple instruction to "Be good.
      Do good." Gurdjieff directed that we should
      "Self-remember" . And a Zen master who was once
      asked what was the most important thing to do,
      answered "Attention". And when he was asked to
      expound on that he said "Attention! Attention! Attention!"

      But if you want to, you can simply shrug off
      all of this and just wait with open hands for
      Enlightenment to zap you and not "do" anything
      at all to develop your Self. And perhaps that
      will work for you.
