      Does anybody know of any medieval examples of a leg being fastened to
      a piece by cutting a split in the part of the leg that gets inserted
      into the hole, and driving a wedge into the in-place end to spread it
      and tighten the fit in the hole? Am I describing the technique
      clearly enough?
