It would be great to see you for Saturday activities in Edenton.  Yeh - the wind will probably be brutal.
I went out first thing Sunday for about 15 miles at 7:30 and the wind wasn't bad.  That's scary to get blown off the road like that.
Marta has taken over my old road bike which we have had modified to fit her with a much higher handlebar set up.  So far she is really enjoying it.  It will be interesting to see how she does over longer distances and if she continues to find it comfortable.  She just doesn't feel stable on a recumbent so I think it would be difficult to get her to switch at this point.

i have been looking at the spring ride but did not give it much time since the plan was to do nyc in may.  now that is gone so i may revisit the spring ride as an option.  that is about the flattest land in nc but the wind will kill even a recumbent.  i would be up for the saturday ride but probably head back here sunday.  the wind today was rough at times and a cross wind pushed me off the road at one spot.
the unionville area is some of my favorite biking around here.  if you go through oakboro and then swing down to unionville from here you can get about 55 miles.  just remember the north road out of unionvile has that pack of dogs that got jeff.  they came after me a few weeks ago and nipped my arm.  scared me more than anything but i am still planning on going out there and talk with the owner.  if they come out and get anyone again they need to get reported.  has marta been turned to the good side yet?  she would look good on a lwb.

Yes it has been some nasty weather.  I've been able to get a few rides in but nothing like I would be wanting to do to try and keep in some kind of shape.  I had thought that I would be up for a 200km ride this coming weekend but I'm nowhere close.  I did ride from my house to Unionville last week and had a good time doing some exploring.   Marta and will need to get in shape for the Cycle North Carolina spring ride in early April.  Three days of riding out of Edenton on Albemarle sound.  Should be flat with lots of different lenght options every day from 15 to 100 miles.  You might check it out on their web site.  We're signed up and prepaid so now we've got to in gear and get ready!

It has indeed been a long and wet, and cold, and...... winter.  My body was telling me that this am.  I thought the idea of a new route from me to mallard creek greenway was worth a try so off i went.  It looks great on paper but man there are some hills that go on forever and ever.  the roads were bad and although they were fairly open on the way out, but  on the way back everyone was leaving church and were really needing to pass me on those very narrow roads.  Several times I had to pull off the road to let them pass (it really was not to catch my breath, but it helped).
I could tell it had been a long time since I was on the bike.  The hills really kicked my butt (even the ones going down).  I gotta get back on the bike with some regularity.
The news on the NYC Ride is not good.  We waited just a bit too long.  They sold out last year in 6 weeks but this year it took less than 4.  We got shut out unless we wanted to pony up for the vip tickets (250$$$$)  Don't think so.  Instead Tim M and I want to do a 2 day from Fayetteville to Wilmington around the same time frame.  (first weekend in May)  That is flexible if anyone wants to join us and that does not work for you.  We have support in both places and may camp  for the overnight but that too is flexible.I will post a route on "Ride with GPS"  and you all can have a look to see if it interests you.
Has anyone else been doing anything interesting?  Been way too quiet for way too long.  What is the local news?
