      Hi Don and Debbie,
The Diamond Princess (honking big white thing) was in Juneau on July 23, Skagway on the 24th, then headed
up to Glacier Bay, College Fjord, and on to Whittier, where we were all bussed or trained over to Anchorage for
      the flights home.

Your adventure sounds far more "immediate" than ours, however. We salute your adventurism!

In Skagway, we wandered into a shop totally devoted to Palin For Senate nicknacks. Frank (blanching)
asked the clerk "Does anyone buy this stuff?" "Oh yes, you'd be surprised at how much we sell!" Then
in a quieter tone, "But you know…some people really don't liker her."

Sail Safely (Don't text while sailing.)

        Hi Mike and Frank,

Love the Palin Story! Sorry to have missed you.

There is one point in Chatham Strait, on the east side of Baranof Island where there is a 10 mile section with cell wifi access. It is always a bit funny to see both Debbie texting n her phone and me trying to keep up with email on my iPad when we travel through that part. So far, we have not hit any whales!

        Cheers,

          Hi Don & Debbie,

Greetings from North Carolina! It's really fun to read your messages and learn about your boating adventures there. Right now I'm rereading James Michener's "Alaska" and I've just finished the chapters about the Russian era and the history of Sitka and the surrounding area. Your presence there makes it very real, even at this distance.

          Safe travels!

That is a great read, Skip, if memory serves me right. I read it long ago and hope to get it and read it on our return trip which will begin next week. I am going to ry it on my iPad since that will be easier to obtain but I am not sure how my reading on an iPad will go. The good news is that I can make the print larger! LOL!

There is so much to learn as we travel up there. It is why I enjoy it so much.
