Subject: [marshallsmicro8s] The Bible. I was prepared to dislike it. But...
It was great fun seeing these old stories done up in a fresh way. And I'm glad if new generations become familiar with them,
because they resonate throughout all of western literature.
And what a relief! They didn't flog us gays with the old Sodom story.
They chose the more intelligent view on it, that Sodom was a violent city infamous for doing violence to strangers, and that Lot,
standing at the gate, saw the strangers arrive and tried to protect them from the mob.
And I loved the poisonous look Sarah gave Abraham as she clutched her son, fresh from his escape from sacrifice, as if to say,
"You sure that's God you're hearing, and not just a voice in your crazy head, old man?"
