      "Why As A Baby"
      [By Nancy Rush]

He was born as a baby
      Like you and me
      Naked and crying
      Needing care, even He.

His mother held Him and whispered
      Sweet words of her love
      While His Father in heaven
      Looked down from above.

      Soon after, He learned
That His flesh had Him bound
      He felt hunger and pain
      And a thirst so profound.

      He learned in a way
      He never had known
Why He left His Dear Father
      And His heavenly throne.

      Man needed a Savior
      To suffer and die
      He understood well
Why, when born, we all cry.

      He lived through a childhood
      Adolescence and work
      The enemy stalked Him
      No one else understood.

      For thirty-three years
      He lived as a man
So He'd know how we feel
      As we journey this land.

      He knew every fear
      Every pain, even grief
From the curse of sin in our flesh
      Only death brought relief.

      He suffered it all
He gave all that He could
So the debt of our sin
Could be paid by His blood.

      Remember, this Christmas
Why He came as a babe
      He lived in this flesh
      From cradle to grave.

Now He's back on His throne
      But He doesn't forget
What it feels like to be us
And he prays for us yet.

      This flesh will return
To the dust of the earth
But, we'll get a body like His
If we have a new birth.

"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those
living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. {6} For
to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will
be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:2,6 [NIV]

"A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a
will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him -- the
Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of
power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD." Isaiah
      11:1-2 [NIV]

"And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in
cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them
in the inn." Luke 2:7 [NASB]
