We are interested in people who use amateur radio for other projects such as Antenna design, APRS, Model Rocket APRS, Microwave, ATV, SSTV, RC Control, radio building or restoration or any other use. As well as those who are interested in participating in an Amateur Radio Booth.
The idea is to raise the awareness about Amateur Radio of Makers who participate and who visit the Maker Faire.
Through this awareness we might be able to encourage others to get their license.
When joining, please provide your call sign and if you want to participate in the Amateur Radio booth. How you will use Amateur Radio Bandwidth at the Maker Faire.
It was a lot of work and worth it. The volunteers had a good time. The show organizers received positive feedback about us. We found that many of the 400+ makers are themselves HAMs.
We were located in the hall with the main stage and store, so this created a lot of traffic.
We will see if we get a few new HAMs out of this event.
Be sure to checkout the Links, Files and Polls.
Ready for next year?????
For 2010, I want to show homebrew projects. Either original work, or kit building. I want to see at least one soldering iron running at all times.
If you know of an existing kit or something worth sourcing as a kit for non-hams, drop me a line.
I also want to do a fox hunt on the fair grounds. So a very simple FM receiver kit we can use for a foxhunt would be great.
If you are in the SF bay area and want to show off a ham project at the Maker Faire, post a message.
