In case you are wondering, the reason that I often don’t send out my writings on Yahoo Maimonides Group directly, but just supply clicks to the PDF’s of the essays, is because I usually place a lot of formatting in them, like italicization, paragraph indentation, boldface, and foreign language script.  I never know what Yahoo will do with those visual aids. It is not malicious on their part, but is done to preserve the platform from malware.

Another aspect of this is that, in recent years, there are differences in how writings will appear in the received email itself, as opposed to how it will appear on the website of the Yahoo platform. While you will get the entire essay in your email, albeit with formatting stripped, additionally, on the actual website, Yahoo truncates the essay to save space. You see the essay in the email but only the first few paragraphs on the Group website. I’ve also been informed that sometimes writings will appear differently, or not at all, when viewed on different types of machines, e.g., how they will appear on a desktop computer, as opposed to how they will appear on an iPhone.

I used to worry a lot about these problems and tried to reformat my writing so it would appear correctly, but that never quite worked out.

It also used to be, back in the early days of the group, in the 1990s and early 2000‘s, that just clicking on something did not easily bring it up. Fortunately we no longer have that problem and it’s just as easy to click on something as to get it any other way.

Having said all of that, I do, as I always have done, encourage discussion on this forum in anyway that you want to conduct that discussion. So please feel free to reply to posts and don’t be concerned about the “level” of your contribution. Its all good. (Of course, inappropriate remarks and crass commercial or political expression will be discouraged. I will be the judge of that, but will err on the side of allowance.)

        Enjoy!
