      Hello All,

Whew! I'd like to give some background on the VRAM allocation, but first a
      couple of comments.

      1. 7.05.02 is not an "upgrade", it is an "update". This may be trivial but
the real point is that updates are free and upgrades cost money. There is no
charge for 7.05.02 for registered 7.0x owners.

      2. I agree with Peter, if you are not experiencing problems and are happy
with your ZoomText (or any software program) then there's no need to get an
update or an upgrade. This is my personal opinion.

      3. However, as another person posted, if you are having problems then it's
best to try the latest version, especially before soliciting help.

Now, about the VRAM, the VRAM setting was originally needed to get around
problems with many video cards. Ai2 later figured out a solution without
using VRAM. Using VRAM setting is not good because it increases the time it
takes for ZX to load, DocReader to start and DocReader to page. In some
cases the delay time is very very long. That's why we've changed the
      default setting.

There's only one video card that Ai2 is aware of in which the VRAM setting
is still needed. This is for a particular Win 98 SE Matrox G200 driver. I
have on my task list to confirm Peter Verhoeven's report. In addition to
Peter's report, I've seen one more posting here that reports sluggish
performance with VRAM off. I'll continue to monitor the issue. If you
experience more issues with VRAM off as oppose to on please forward your
video card, video driver and operating system information to
      swarren@....

      Hi Barbie,

The version 7.05.02 upgrade is free for ZoomText Xtra 7 users. But if
ZoomText is running without problems on your system now, thare is not a
      reason to upgrade.

Thanks, Christopher I have been using rich text format. I had no idea that it can cause a problem. I have always use that, because I like to send the smilely faces and stuff. I have never had anyone complain about not being able to read what I have wrote before. Can you explain to me what happens when I use that format? Barbie,
