        Hello Bas,

I hope this isn't totally useless information, but here goes...

I am not at all familiar with LibreOffice, but am having similar problems with the latest version of SPSS (a statistical package I use at work) and ZoomText 9.18.  A few versions ago, I had NO sucess with ZoomText 9.1 and SPSS 9.16.  Now, with SPSS 19 and ZoomText 9.18, I am experiencing similarissues.  ZT seems to track evrything in SPSS just fine, until SPSS presents its Output window which gives status messages and error messages after running a command.  Then, ZT looses all of its tracking and speaking abilities.

On one of my systems, my desktop, ZT will hang and SPSS will close as you're describing above.  I can re-create the problem by simply opening SPSS and mousing around, clicking on either data or syntax.  It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, SPSS will hang within about a minute.  It does not always totally hang, and usually when SPSS finishes "dumping", (I discovered that SPSS gives a system dump every time), it will resume ZT functioning as notmal.

ON my other system, interestingly my laptop which happens to be newer, ZT and SPSS eem to work just fine with the same versions of everything, (same ZT, same SPSS and same JAB).  I have, as of yet, not found what the differences are.  I'm going to get with our IT department and see if they can trouble-shoot this and will let you know if I find anything.  I'm also running Windows XP, rather than Windows 7 as you're describing.

Have you tried this on another system?  It could be system specific.

        Thank you,
        Have a Great Day!

        Karey Carbaugh

Can you check whether the JAB DLL files are in place with your SPSS crashing
setup? Please post back your findings.

            Thanks very much Bas!

the files "should" be there as we installed the JRE, but if its not automatic, then this could be the problem.  This sounds famiiar and I thought the IT guys did the same thing on both of my machines, but I'll check them both.  Maybe they forgot this one step on the one that is crashing all the time.  This may not fix the problem I'm having where ZoomText stops tracking after SPSS presents a message window the first time, but I can always re-start SPSS if this is a problem.

SPSS' response is to use JAWS.  They totally don't get that there is a difference between JAWS (a screen reader) and ZoomText (a screen magnifier/reader).

I'll report back and thanks for your help!

            Thank you,
            Have a Great Day!
