Can anyone help me? I am trying to find out if there is such a thing
as a laptop that can support a handheld camera magnifier. If so,
please pass the information on to me. I do not want something that
has to be worn like glasses, or something that is all-in-one like a
lot of the mini aids. I am specifically trying to find out if there
is a system out there that uses a laptop with a handheld camera, sort
of like a mouse. I want it so I can use it when travelling, yet it
will be inconspicuous. Thanks for any help!!

You can use the Clarity Capture plus device which will connect a Clarity camera to your laptop screen with split-screen capabilites. The link for that product

You can use the Clarity Capture plus device which will connect a Clarity
camera to your laptop screen with split-screen capabilites. The link for
that product is http://www.clarityusa.com/capturePlus.htm . However, the
Clarity cameras are larger than a mouse so they will be more noticable. They
are still quite portable though. I'm not aware of any other camera system
that will hook to your laptop though I'm afraid.

Well, I checked out the site that you showed for the Flipper and I could
find the device to connect it to an SVGA monitor but not to a laptop
display. Perhaps the person who wrote the article assumed that any device
that can be connected to desktop computer monitors can also be connected to
laptop displays. It's a common assumption but it's false.

I am using the PocketViewer since autumn season. It is handy. It is easy
to use. It is only W/B and B/W display. All battery, display, camera, and
lights in one unit. You can carry it in your pocket or purse. It costs
$900 in USA. Remember it has no color. It is really different design
                      than others.

                        Michael,

Yes, you are right I remember I tried it to the laptop but not work. You
                        are right.

About 2 years ago I bought OPTi (cctv-like with PCMCIA for the laptop).
It was perfect one but it can not see any red in B&W display. I returned
                        them back.

I never see them again. I do not know what happen.

                        Leslie--

The last I heard about the Opti, the company wasn't selling them but was
working on a redesign of the system to make it work better. But that was
over a year ago. It could be the product line was just dropped but I really
                          don't know for sure.

                          Leslie--
