Group Description

The Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) Education Foundation (MEF) provides scholarships, awards and career and leadership development services to TRiO and Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students in the ten-state region served by MAEOPP. Approximately 200,000 of the students served by MAEOPP professionals are participants in the Federal TRIO Programs.

These states are Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. MAEOPP is a professional association. Its members work with low-income and first-generation college students, and students who participate in Educational Opportunity Programs.

The membership of MAEOPP consists of more than 1,100 professionals who work at more than 200 colleges and universities and community organizations in the mid-west. MAEOPP serves a very diverse population of more than 250,000 high achieving and financially needy Trio and Educational Opportunity Program students. These students range from middle and high school students to post-secondary students enrolled at two-and four-year colleges and universities.

MEF provides the following scholarships to students: 1) The Ralph Pruitt Scholarship ($1,000 per year); 2) the Silas Purnell Scholarship ($1,000 per year); 3) the Arnold Mithcem Graduate Fellowship ($1,000) per year; 3) the Illinois Scholarship Program (ISP) Scholarship (Funded by the Grand Victtoria Foundation: $22,00 per year); 4) the Ronald E. McNair Graduate Fellowship ($20,00 per year); and 5) James B. hamilton Research Scholar Award 9$1,000 per year). In some cases, award recipients may not be participants, e.g., recipients of the James B. Hamilton Research Scholar Award.

Scholarships are provided only to students who participate in programs at the institutions where MEF has members, except for the Ronald E. McNAir Graduate Fellowship. See our Web site for more information at www.omsa.uiuc.edu/mef.
