Rotary advertisements on TV and digital campaign
This is to share with you the wonderful response that we are getting for the Rotary International-India Campaign–Rotary Miracles. The third phase of advertisement campaign featuring literacy/e-learning initiative is currently running on several television channels.
The beautiful song in the e-learning film has been sung by the children of Govandi in Mumbai. Govandi is one of the largest slum cum dumping grounds of Mumbai. These kids have grown up here, some of them work in the dump yards while some have been rescued from child labour. In fact their only break in the day comes when all of them gather in a tiny 10 ft by 10 ft room to practice singing.
For the kids, coming to the studio was a big experience because they had never stepped inside a car till then. Neither had they ever tasted a burger which they had for lunch. Nor had they ever sung in front of a microphone. However, after an hour of rehearsals the result was magical.
This song was not supposed to happen. There was no plan. The kids were just supposed to give background vocals. However, at the practice session when coaxed into singing any song they knew of they poured their hearts out and sang this one. Written by their music teacher the lyrics talked about how they wanted to break free from their life as child labourers, go to a school and pursue their dreams. Magically it was a perfect fit for the script. In fact some of the musicians and artists in the studio were moved to tears when the recording was over.
We invite you to view the TV Commercial (with voice over of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan) and share it with everyone in your circle. The You Tube link to this advertisement is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiIXmd7O4Jc
