- So in Xcode they use this grey area at the bottom of each window, and for me
it really reminds me of the Safari status bar, so much so that I constantly
try to drag the window by clicking in its area. But then, after it doesn't
work, I remember it's not a metal window.
It's the grey that fools me I think. Check it out for yourself. They are
soooo similar in look.
Anyways thought I would share. Not sure why but the unified toolbar post
reminded me of it (I guess cause it too has a huge drag-able region that
seems "off").

the metal off in Safari :) Unfortunately there's an issue in Safari
2 where the toolbar area doesn't draw correctly if it isn't metal.
But it's still worth it.
Maybe they made it gray so it wouldn't get confused with the editing
area.

http://www.uncommonplace.com/ - The bottom is kind of the "status bar area" now.
It's in the Finder that way.
It's in Xcode that way.
It's in Safari that way.
This way, it's out of the main toolbar area visually, which is good
in this case.

Well, that's not part of the unified toolbar look. The unified

toolbar look only applies to the toolbar area, and the normal window
remains to be pinstriped Aqua. Apple decided to make Xcode "look
cooler" or something. Yes, I agree; this seems to be pushing user
expectations a bit.

Well, it's an extension of the titlebar, so it should be a draggable

region, which it is.
But, there's a definite line where the drag-able titlebar+toolbar
ends, and the pinstripe begins. In the textured window, there is no
such line. The whole window is one unified lump. That's one way of
looking at it, at least.
