- theartmarket presents
`Re-toyed Trash': Robot-making Workshop
2nd December 2006 12-4pm at theartmarket
Unit 6/7, The Merrion Market Leeds LS2.
theartmarket invites you to come and explore this exciting new artist-run space in Leeds
city centre in its raw state and participate in some creative re-use of old stock and junk in
this guest artists' workshop.
The Recycled Toys Art Workshops have been set up by artists Alicia Talikowska and Dan
Walls to encourage people to make art using existing materials that have been found and
re-used as an alternative to buying mass-produced items. Everyone is welcome to the
workshop and the artists shall be supplying materials that they have found themselves, as
well as leftover stock, to be used to make art. People are also encouraged to bring along
their own 'junk' to use.
This is the second workshop in a traveling programme, initiated by a Monster-making
workshop at Fab Café, moving every fortnight to a new venue around Leeds. The artists
hope to introduce a wide range of people to the concept of creative re-use and allow
people to feel less intimidated about artmaking by making it fun and easy to get involved
The workshop will be followed up with an exhibition of artists' work and the best of the
works made by visitors on the day and in previous workshops.
`Re-toyed Trash' exhibition will run for a week,
opening with a lunchtime event on
Thursday 7th December at 1pm
