The Voice - a magic mural for the Island of Britain
- The Voice project is an ambitious quest by Leeds- and Bradford-based
artist Bruce Rimell to capture the imaginal essences and mythological
spirits of the island of Britain, drawing from over twenty years of
researches into the mythical and natural heritages of this land, and to
create a thirteen-panel, dual-image 40ft long artwork of breathtakingly
fine detail. Excitingly it's also going to be dual image, meaning that one
image will be seen under daylight conditions and another, different image
under UV illumination.
This is about a direct communion with the land, whether the urban spaces at
the heart of Britain's musical creativity, or the wild rural places where
can be found ogham-incised stones and megalithic monuments.
Bruce has been walking the path of this quest already, sketching and
working on mural plans for two years, and now feels ready to start creating
the final work. To this end he has created a Crowdfunding pitch on
IndieGogo, illustrated with images, videos and text that illuminate the
The Voice aims to seek out, hear and experience the Visionary and
Imaginal Voice of the Island of Britain from ancient times to the modern
day. To unite ancient and modern, rural and urban, magic-sacred and
mundane-profane in one consciousness. To render all of this into a Grande
Art Vision, worthy of the sacred and creative beauty that is this Island.
Thirteen panels. Forty feet across and six feet tall. Overlaid with hidden
images rendered in UV lacquer and visible only under UV light. To exhibit
that Grande Art Vision on this Island, and invite anyone and everyone to...
come and see...
