Report : Trail Opening and float at Chalk Banks Mar. 23.
- Five very dedicated LRCC members Braved cold drizzle to take pard in the grand opening of the new walking trail at the Chalk Banks area of Lumber River State Park near Wagram, NC. After brief remarks by park superintendent, Neill Lee, Roylin Hammond, former ranger at LRSP, now superintendent at Raven Rock, Jeff Davis, and Ranger Eric Siratt, Eric led the group on a nature hike. Some hiked one and a half miles. But some of us did two and a half miles. After the hikewe went to a fish fry at Montpeilier Presbeterian Church I wagram where we enjoyed a good hot meal.
After lunch we headed back to the river to paddle. But I had forgotten to bring a paddle so I became the shuttle guy.. I took some pictures of Jim, Mia, and Omer at the put in and on the river. I will try to post them.
