The following paddlers launched from the JP Stevens water intake on a warm morning with the water level above minimum. Betty Fisher and guest Colleen Drenckhahn, Frank Dupin, Carlton Royal, Omer Register, Emery Sadler, George Sachno, Jim and Mia McDermott and guests Bob White, Kuiki White, Jacob White, and Elizabeth White, Andy Kurhman, Chuck Miller, and Walter Bull. There were twelve boats on the water both Kayaks and Canoes. We separated into three groups: Omer's group out front, Frank's group in the middle, Jim's last with the new paddlers. The amount of downfall had increased a great deal since I paddled the section after Mitch's crew cleaned it last year. Most of the downfall was recent with several pines in the river with the cones still attached. Jim used his chainsaw to clear numerous downed trees. The last three obstructions he was unable to remove. Jim deserves a big thank you from everyone for his efforts. The next group will have a much easier paddle. Omer's group arrived at the takeout first with the other groups some time later. Everyone was off the river by four pm. There were some unplanned swims but the water was warm. Also the middle group stepped on some fire ant nests while doing a portage through some reeds. A good paddle on a beautiful day. See you on the water. Thanks Walter Bull
