2 Dec - Little River Trip
- Eleven club members paddled the Little River from
Morrison Bridge Rd near Ft. Bragg down to the one lane
bridge on Ft. Bragg, a distance of 8.7 miles. There was
a steady drizzle of rain and the temperature was in
the low forties, but with rain felt like freezing.
This is a very pretty section with two dams, one which
has been blown up and easily runnable (with plenty of
water) on the left. The other dam must be portaged.
There are high banks, and plenty of gravel bars for
breaks and would be a very nice run in the summer. The
group only took one break for lunch in the rain, and
the other break was the portage. After the paddle
members dried off and tried to change for the Christmas
Party at Jim McDermott's house which was really nice.
Members on the float trip were Charles West, leader,
Renate Schuchardt, Don & Sandy Meece, Mike & Liz Britt,
Wayne Charles, Pam Cline, Frank Dupin, Diane Smith, and
Mary Martha Vaught. Wildlife seen on the trip were
usual birds, ducks, and blue heron. Despte the cold and
rain it was still nice to get out and as usual, the
worst day of paddling beats the best day working.
