      Hello everyone,

The big news of the week is that my story "Magdala Amygdala" won a Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Short Fiction! The awards ceremony was held on June 15, 2013 at the historic Hotel Monteleone in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

"Magdala Amygdala" originally appeared in the anthology Dark Faith: Invocations and has been selected to appear in Ellen Datlow's Best Horror of the Year, Vol. 5. It will also be translated into Japanese for the magazine Night Land.

You can hear a reading of the story at Tales to Terrify:

If you're interested in owning a copy of my Stoker Award-winning story along with a lot of other great fiction, Apex is offering a special bundle:

In other news, I and authors such as Maurice Broaddus, Cat Rambo, and LaShawn M. Wanak will be in the anthology What Fates Impose.

The publisher is running a Kickstarter for the book, and there are still a lot of great plege rewards to be had. Even if you just have a buck or two, please consider backing the project:

And finally, I'll be appearing at Context 26, a Columbus area convention for readers and writers of science fiction, fantasy and horror.

Context 26 will be held the weekend of September 27-29 at the Holiday Inn in Worthington, Ohio. Author guests include Jack McDevitt, Elizabeth Bear, and Scott Lynch.

      Happy reading,
