- Dear Elisabeth,The best thing anyone can do is to have an updated antivirus program. When you want to see or play any files you recieve in your email, first, download the file. Second, look for the file and right click on it. On the menu choose scan for viruses. This will scan the file and let you know if it is contaminated/infected. Under no circumstances double click on any file before you scan it. When you double click on a file, you are executing this file and therefore, the trojan or virus will be executed and dispersed inside your computer as well.
