Louder Than Bombs was an anti-war protest group of fans of The Smiths. We marched together at the big anti-war protest on March 20th, 2004, in Hollywood. It was a project to expose the hidden connection between the seemingly disparate ideas of the antiwar movement and liking the music of The Smiths/Morrissey. The project was inspired/incited at the Royal Lounge bar in West Covina in early 2004, when peace vigilistos Jimmy and John C. revealed themselves to be fans of The Smiths.Simultaneously, the project was also started by a bunch of folks from Flor y Canto who thought a Smiths bloc would be a good response to the over-used black bloc. Flor y Canto collective members made most of the signs at the space that were later used in the march and took a majority of the photos.
If you like The Smiths or Morrissey, and are against the war, join the sensitive anti-war mob! Alone, we may be quite softspoken, but together, we can be louder than bombs.
"If it's not love, then it's the bomb that will bring us together."
