Loops can be used to block the reception of an unwanted station.If a radio/loop combination receives an unwanted station and a physicaly larger loop is interposed between the receiver/loop combination such that the unwanted signal is in the null of the "blocking loop" then when the "blocking loop" is tuned to the station it attenuates the offending signal.I believe that the "blocking loop" absorbs the signal and reradiates it in the plane of the "blocking loop" preventing the unwanted signal reaching the receiver/loop combination.
