Let's see... I haven't dug in too deeply so far so I don't have alot
so far but here are a few reactions:

        Positive:
        - really like the "activity for last 7 days" summary on the home
page. At a click you see all the new stuff.
        - Like the "preview" line on messages (but wish it wasn't so
        wasteful - it's too big

        Negative:
-don't like the messages, links, members etc. display page - it
wastes too much space - big fonts, lots of wasted white space etc.
-they appear to select font colors for you in some places. I
understand they want to be sure that you have contrast between text
and backgrounds, but let me make sure that happens rather than
        selecting colors without my approval

        You find anything PP?

It's been so long that I have actually visited a Yahoo! group site that
it is difficult to note what is newest, however ...

(One-f: Please inform me if anything I note below is because of your own
machinations! Everything I am commenting on seems to be similar at all
groups but this could be simply due to the limited choices that our
fearless leaders are given by Yahoo!)

          1) I see they have made the "log out" font size smaller, yet again ...

          2) They still cover 30+% of the screen with advertising--but now it is
aimed more directly at the user's types of groups that they are
registered in rather than generic ads.

2a) I see that a single page of a site no longer fits vertically *or*
horizontally on my screen and I must continually use scroll bars to see
          everything.

          3) I note that there seem to be absolutely *no* forwarding of
attachments by email (their legal department probably had most to do
          with this).

          4) The user still has to make two or three separate clicks just to see
an entire directory of uploads. As well, there seem to be no ways of
making such a directory open automatically for a specific user once this
process has been completed the first time. (Hey, Yahoo!--strong-arming
me to see ads every time I visit your site makes me wish to have less
and less access to you *and* your advertisers. Think about it!)

4a) The font for "Log Out" is miniscule, but the folder fonts of a
'Group's uploads are still so large that I only see four or five letters
          of a directory's title.

          5) Even when I log-in to 'Groups and I am actually visiting a 'Groups
site, I do not show up on the site as being "present" or "active" in the
rolls. Hmmm, I could swear that I am there at this moment. Perhaps I am
having an existential crisis of electronic dimensions. Perhaps Yahoo! is
as afflicted with Windows as I ...

          6) I can see some places where a moderator/chief/big-enchilada (like
one-f) would like to change things but is prevented. Mind you, every
time Yahoo! makes a change it seems that they never make it easier to
use the 'Groups for anyone but themselves. In the last four years I
recall needing to re-enter all of my 'Groups preferences five times
because their changes make this necessary--I shudder to think of what a
          moderator goes through!

          7) I *still* find frustrating the inclusion at 'Groups sites of
pseudo-ad-blurbs like, "There are 2 new pictures in downloads [at this
site]!". New since when? Where are they, in particular? According to 5,
above, I don't exist--so how do you know?

          8) It seems Yahoo! has made it easier for a user to find similar
'Groups, "similar" wwweb sites, lists of 'group members, and sites
created by a 'Groups' members. (Now if they could just do the same with
          "Log Out".)

8a) I believe you are correct when noting the wasted space, though. My
scroll bars got a big workout while I was looking for whatever it was
that I could possibly be missing. Bright yellow on a black background
provides the most contrast for print, but please don't tell Yahoo! about
this as they might make another change ...

          9) The 'Groups seem to load much faster than I recall. However, this
could be simply because I went there at 8 AM CST on a weekday and I did
          not get any animated ads.

          10) I did not get any animated ads!!! [Quick! Write it on the calendar!]

Of 10 "notes", it appears that only three of Yahoo!s changes over the
last few years are close to positive. Yahoo! is a publically traded
company--do the share-holders know of this record? Do they care?

There are my thoughts (for what they are worth). Ask again, one-f, if
          you desire mor feedback.

          JJ

P.S.: How many wwweb sites do you actually run, one-f?!? I saw nine or
ten listed at the 'Group site!
