Group Description

There are over 100 forms of liver disease that affect men, women and children of every race and age group.
25 million Americans - 1 in every 10 - are affected by some form of liver disease.
Over 4 million people are chronically infected with hepatitis C; most people don't even know they have the virus.
One out of every 250 people is a carrier of hepatitis B and can pass it onto others, often unknowingly.
26,000 people die of cirrhosis each year. There are over 17,000 patients in the U.S. who are on the liver transplant waiting list.
All of these people and those who love them need a place to exchange information and speak to others about the trials of living with cirrhosis.

Please join us here as we learn about and make the best of our lives with cirrhosis.

"Is not disease the rule of existence? There is not a lily pad floating on the river but has been riddled by insects. Almost every shrub and tree has its gall, oftentimes esteemed its chief ornament and hardly to be distinguished from the fruit. If misery loves company, misery has company enough. Now, at midsummer, find me a perfect leaf or fruit."
- Henry David Thoreau

The graphic of blue leaves was chosen because we may be facing the autumn of our lives but we have the chance to change. So the leaves of what may have been autumn are instead shades of blue and purple. Like the quote above, we are not odd or unusual even, we are simply living part of our lives.
