Group Description

Welcome to the REVOLUTION!!!

Scratch builders discussion group on building and flying Harold Locke's Little Nipper side-arm-launched glider.

The wing span is 42" and the length is 20". It uses a 10% thick wing with 22° of dihedral. Flying weight is 3.4 to 3.9 ounces. It is made from cheap white foam covered in 1.6mm clear packing tape. The boom is a spiral-wrapped carbon rod, the push rods are .030 carbon rods, and the tail feathers are 3/32 balsa treated with polyurethane and the edges are bonded with CA. The entire glider can be disassembled into three pieces after it is built. The nose pod, the wing assembly, and the boom/tail assembly. (OK, 4 pieces if you count taking the T-tail elevator off by undoing the plastic bolt.)
