I have Kubuntu 8.04.1 running on this imac G5 now and am quite pleased. It
offered me an distribution upgrade the other day ... and I found a source for
the iso's. My question is: what experience have other people had with 8.10
for the PPC. I recognise that PPC arch. is no longer supported by the
distribution proper ... but the community effort in developing PPC ports is
much appreciated. I am not sure that I am ready to take the plunge on 8.10.

The suggested upgrade path was to download and install a copy of ubuntu server
model (for the PPC) ... and then to get (actually apt-get) kubuntu-desktop.
The website for this iso is:

      http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/intrepid/release/

There are kubuntu ports for 8.04 and a beta for 9.04 ... at this website:

      http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/ports/releases/

I did try the 9.04 beta release but had problems with the installer ... so
went back 12/12 to get the 8.04 running.
