Re: [linuxham] FLDIGI PTT
- Some distros now deprecate adding users to the group "dialout". They say this won't work with "multiseat", e.g. when several users work on one computer at the same time. The new kid on the block for this is policykit, which handles what user has what privileges. It can be configured so that a user "andy" that logged in via the console or X11 has access to the serial port and audio, but the same user "andy" that logged in via ssh doesn't have this right (e.g. to prevent eavesdropping in case "andy"'s password got hacked).I personally don't like this flexibility, because it comes with a complexity (configuring PolicyKit!). So I put myself into various groups: "audio", "plugdev", "dialog" etc ...BTW: neither access-user-groups nor policykit is in no way Debian specific.
